Standards are developed by representative cross sections of product and service stakeholders, and prescribe objective performance benchmarks required to be met or exceeded. Standards Australia is the governing and administrative body responsible for development and publication of standards in Australia.

Objective evidence of standards compliance is gained via independent testing using standards prescribed methods. Product and service suppliers hold laboratory type test certificates as basic evidence of standard compliance.

More discerning product and service end users demand not just one time only type testing, but also evidence that each and every product unit and batch is produced and tested under a strict quality management system regime (Eg. ISO 9001:2000) which is regularly audited by an independent certification body.

Product buyers should request Certified Product Licence evidence from duly qualified suppliers for the ultimate in quality assurance peace of mind.
